On October 28, 2022, at 10:32 PM, La Quinta deputies responded to the 79000 block of Dandelion Dr. in the city of La Quinta regarding a structure fire. Upon arrival, deputies located visible flames on the interior of the home, spreading throughout the kitchen. Deputies forced entry into the residence and located an unconscious elderly female lying on the floor in the entryway. The deputies carried her to safety and she was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. She is expected to make a full recovery. The two deputies were treated on scene by CalFire paramedics for smoke inhalation also. CalFire personnel extinguished the flames and no one else was located inside. It was later discovered the fire was ignited by cooking grease left on the kitchen stove.
