On October 20, 2022, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jurupa Valley Station, responded to the 6000 block of Rosewood Way in the city of Eastvale to investigate a juvenile medical aid. Upon arrival, deputies observed paramedics from Cal Fire conducting life-saving measures on a 2-year-old male juvenile. Deputies secured the scene and began speaking with the parents. After life-saving measures were unsuccessful, the juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene. During the course of the investigation, foul play was suspected surrounding the juvenile’s death and detectives from the Central Homicide Unit, Special Victim’s Unit, and Jurupa Valley Station responded to assume the investigation.
The victim’s mother and father were taken to Jurupa Valley Station for questioning. After further investigation, the victim’s mother, Xiu Xiu Sun, a 31-year-old resident of Eastvale, was arrested for murder for her involvement in the child’s death. The child’s father was released without any pending charges. The child’s identity will be released by the Coroner’s Bureau. This is an active investigation and additional details are not currently available.
