An Amazon delivery van was making its rounds in the 15200 block of Fontana’s Whittram Avenue a little after 11 a.m., when it was hijacked at gunpoint.

The hijackers sped off before being tracked down by the van’s owner and a GPS system near Lime and Valencia avenues. Confronted by the owner, Harold Brown, 29, of Fontana, opened fire, before taking off in the stolen Amazon van again.

Police joined in the chase, that lasted about four miles before Brown crashed the van a final time near the intersection of Citrus Avenue and Ceres Avenue, according to published reports.

After ditching the Amazon van, Brown forced his way into a nearby home. He was eventually arrested by police and transported to a local hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash.

Brown was arrested on suspicion of carjacking, failure to yield, assault with firearm and other charges. His bail was set at $250,000.
