Posted on: October 1, 2022Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Two Hit and Run DriversReporting Deputy: Sergeant Steven RiveraFile # Y222730043Details:On Friday, September 30, 2022, at 10:24 PM, Thermal Station deputies assigned to the city of Coachella, responded to a report of a major injury collision involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian in the intersection of Cesar Chavez Street and Cairo Street. Upon arrival, deputies located a Hispanic male adult approximately 50 years old, lying unresponsive in the middle of the street. Paramedics were summoned to the scene and life-saving measures were performed; however, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was struck by two separate vehicles moments apart, both of whom fled the scene without stopping.The Coachella traffic team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision has not yet been determined and the investigation is still ongoing. The identity of the deceased will not be released pending further investigation and the notification of the next of kin.
