Man on Scooter Struck and Killed by Car in Downtown Long Beach

A black sedan struck a man on a scooter, causing severe injuries that later caused him to die at a local hospital, according to published reports.

The crash happened at about  7:15 a.m.  near Seventh Street and Chestnut avenues.  First responders arrived to find a man seriously injured in the road.  The scooter he was riding was near the middle of the intersection, where he was apparently struck by the sedan.

The sedan’s driver stayed at the crash scene. The tragedy marks the 33rd traffic death investigated by Long Beach Police this year.
