On Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at approximately 8:47 a.m., Long Beach Port Police responded to an industrial accident at 700 Pier A Way.
When the officers arrived they discovered the victim down on the asphalt next to a trailer and approximately thirty (30) feet behind a 2009 Sterling 3-axle tractor. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The investigation revealed that the victim was the driver of the 2009 Sterling 3-axle tractor. The victim got out of his tractor without setting the emergency brake and without putting it in park. The victim, who was on his cell phone at the time, attempted to unlatch the trailer. The trailer slowly began to roll forward, striking the victim, who was subsequently run over by the trailer.
The victim has been identified as William Vasquez-Uz, a 26-year-old resident of Los Angeles.
