On Feb. 15, 2021 at approximately 5:35 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 32nd Street regarding a report of a vehicle versus a pedestrian traffic collision, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers located a male adult pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2004 Nissan 350z, driven by a 28-year-old male resident of Long Beach, was traveling northbound on Long Beach Boulevard when the Nissan 350z struck a male pedestrian who was standing in the roadway. Due to the collision, the pedestrian was thrown into the southbound lanes of Long Beach Boulevard. A 2018 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 28-year-old female resident of the City of Los Angeles, was traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard and struck the pedestrian who was lying in the roadway. The Nissan Sentra immediately pulled over and contacted police.
Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol, drugs, and distracted driving are not believed to have been a factor in the collision. Both drivers were positively identified with their valid driver’s license and were released from the scene, pending further investigation.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will identify the decedent and notify next-of-kin.
