On Jan 1, 2022, at approximately 11:31 a.m., officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Los Altos Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers located a collision involving a single vehicle which resulted in the death of a female adult.
Through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined a female adult driving a 2008 Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on 7th Street. As the vehicle approached Los Altos Avenue, it ran off the road and struck a light pole and two parked unoccupied vehicles before coming to a stop on Los Altos Avenue south of 7th Street.
The investigation to determine what caused the collision remains underway.
The Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined the driver was deceased at the scene. A male adult passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries due to the collision and received medical treatment at the scene.
The driver has been identified as Stephanie Moreno, a 40-year-old resident of Long Beach.
