On May 31, 2021, at approximately 10:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business parking lot in the 2500 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, which resulted in the death of a female adult.
Upon arrival, officers located a female adult pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and began rendering aid to the pedestrian, who succumbed to her injuries and was determined to be deceased at the scene by fire department personnel.
The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was lying underneath a pile of blankets in a parking stall when she was struck by a 2010 Scion XB, being driven by a 27-year-old male resident of the City of Los Angeles, as he was driving through the parking lot. The driver of the
vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Neither alcohol, drugs, nor distracted driving are believed to be a factor in the collision for the driver. The driver had a valid license and proof of insurance.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office will identify the decedent and notify the next-of-kin.
