On May 9, 2022, at approximately 9:06 PM, Officers responded to the area of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Allen Avenue to investigate a traffic collision involving two vehicles. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2002 Lexus sedan, driven by an adult male, was traveling westbound on Santa Teresa Boulevard in the number three lane when it rear ended a 2005 Chevrolet truck that was also traveling in the number three lane. Both adult male drivers were transported to local hospitals with what at the time were deemed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Lexus was later found to have suffered cardiac trauma. At the time it was unknown if the cardiac trauma happened prior to or as a result of the collision.
On August 24, 2022, traffic investigators were notified by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office that the driver of the Lexus succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision. The autopsy concluded that the cardiac trauma occurred following the collision.
This is the 43rd fatal collision, and the 45th traffic death of 2022.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
