Driver killed when car disabled on 91 Freeway in Corona is rear-ended

A motorist was killed Wednesday night, Feb. 9, when his car stalled on the 91 Freeway in Corona and was struck from behind, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened minutes before 10 p.m. on the westbound side west of Green River Road near the Orange County border. A Toyota Camry became disabled in the left lane and caught fire when it was struck by a Toyota Highlander, the CHP said.

The driver, who was the only one in the Camry, died. That person’s name has not been publicly announced.

The driver and passenger in the Highlander were hospitalized.

The CHP asks anyone with information on the collision call 951-637-8000.
