PEARBLOSSOM — A 21-year-old motorist and his 46-year-old passenger died Saturday in a head-on collision on Highway 138 in the Pearlblossom area of the Antelope Valley.
The driver was identified as Grant Molino of Rancho Cucamonga and the passenger as Victorville resident Jason Hernandez, according to the coroner’s office.
The crash on state Route 138 at 133rd Street East occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
A wrong-way 2003 Chevrolet pickup in the eastbound No. 1 lane east of 133rd Street East overturned after crashing head-on into a 2020 Ford sedan.
The two men in the pickup were not wearing seatbelts and died at the scene. The lone occupant of the sedan was not injured. It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Authorities said the two men who died were the 52nd and 53rd fatalities this year in the Antelope Valley CHP’s jurisdiction.
