The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help finding the driver of a tractor-trailer that fatally struck another driver earlier this week on the 15 Freeway in Corona.
The hit-and-run on the southbound 15 at El Cerrito Road was reported to the CHP at 3:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Authorities have not yet identified the man who was killed but CHP spokesman Officer Dan Olivas described him as a 49-year-old Irvine resident.
He drove an Acura that was in an earlier collision with a big rig on the southbound 15, Olivas said. After the crash, the truck pulled over to the right shoulder but the Acura became disabled on the freeway, according to the officer.
The Acura’s driver and his passenger left the vehicle and went to the freeway shoulder. At some point, Olivas said the driver returned to the Acura.
A semi-truck hit the driver as he was getting out of the passenger side of his car, Olivas said, adding the man died at the scene.
The suspect didn’t stop, continued south on the freeway and got off at Cajalco Road, a CHP statement said. The CHP described the suspect vehicle as a white or silver semi-truck pulling white bottom dump trailers.
