A 52-year-old man died after his scooter slammed into a pick-up truck that turned in front of him in Highland on Saturday night, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
Paramedics attempted to revive Mark Bocanegra, the scooter driver, at the scene, but he died, Sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
The crash occurred when a 19-year-old in a 2015 Ford F150, headed south on Church Avenue at around 8:15 p.m., attempted to turn left onto Stratford Street. He turned his pickup directly into the path of Bocanegra’s 50cc scooter.
The front end of the scooter hit the passenger side of the pickup, throwing Bocanegra from the scooter and leaving him with severe injuries.
Sheriff’s officials said they were still investigating the crash. The pickup driver apparently stayed at the scene, and no arrests were made.
