A driver who fatally struck a man crossing a street in Rancho Cucamonga and then fled is being sought by authorities, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Monday, Aug. 23.
The incident happened on Saturday, Aug. 21, just before 8:20 p.m. in the area of Fourth Street and Milliken Avenue. A 57-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a car that was headed west on Fourth Street, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The suspect car — described as a dark colored, older model Nissan Sentra with a spoiler — fled the scene.
The victim was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries, authorities said. No further identifying information for the victim was immediately available.
No identifying information for the driver of the suspect car was immediately available either.
Anyone with information about the collision was asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 909-477-2800.
