A motorcyclist fleeing Fontana police was killed when he collided with a car Sunday night, July 18, authorities said.
Officers saw several motorcycles that appeared to be racing in the area of Oleander Avenue and Foothill Boulevard around 9:40 p.m., said Officer Kevin Anderson, a Fontana police spokesman.
The officers tried to pull over two of the motorcyclists but they took off, he said, with police ending up chasing one.
That motorcyclist crashed into a sedan at Valley Boulevard and Palmetto Avenue, several miles away, with the rider thrown off of the bike and dying at the scene.
At least two of the car’s occupants complained of pain, were taken to a hospital and released.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash. The coroner’s office hadn’t identified the motorcyclist yet.
