A 50-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in Norco late Friday, July 9, by what the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said was a hit-and-run driver.

The car believed to have hit the woman was found in Corona.

“At this time, no arrest has been made as further investigation is required,” Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro, a department spokeswoman, said Saturday afternoon.

The woman was walking east across Hamner Avenue near 5th Street at about 10:40 p.m. when she was struck by a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro that was headed south, a sheriff’s news release said. The vehicle failed to stop, the release said.

The woman, whose name has not been publicly announced, died at the scene.

Investigators ask anyone with information on the collision to call Deputy Michael Powell at 951-955-2600 or the Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099. Information may be left anonymously at 800-782-7463.
