Three adults were killed and one woman suffered major injuries when a car clipped a pickup truck and crashed head-on with a box truck in Rialto Monday morning, June 28, police said.

The coroner had not yet identified the two men and one woman who were killed in the 7:45 a.m. crash on South Riverside Avenue about the 2600 block.

A Dodge Ram pickup was heading south on Riverside Avenue approaching Santa Ana Avenue, said Rialto Officer Amanda DeLeon, with a speeding Nissan Altima coming up from behind.

To avoid hitting the Dodge, she said, the Altima’s driver made an abrupt turn, clipping the pickup, veering into opposing traffic and colliding with the box truck.

Three people, including the woman driving, in the Nissan died at the scene while a fourth occupant, another woman, was taken to a hospital, DeLeon said. No one was injured in the pickup or the box truck.
