Carmelino Oliver Martinez Ordonez, 33, pleaded no contest Wednesday to one count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according to Pamela Johnson of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Ordonez, a Pomona resident, was charged last year in connection with the Sept. 17 crash that killed Yolanda Bozonier, who lived in the home and died at the scene.
The 59-year-old woman was trapped under the PT Cruiser for about 20 minutes, Pomona police said shortly after the crash.
“The driver was traveling southbound on Hamilton Boulevard at a high rate of speed when (he) lost control and collided into a house,” according to a Pomona Police Department statement that said “it appears alcohol was a factor in this collision.”
Ordonez was arrested within minutes of the crash and has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.
