A 17-year-old boy from Winchester was killed Wednesday afternoon, May 26, in Moreno Valley when a speeding car struck his vehicle, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

At about 3:10 p.m., deputies responded to a crash near Day Street and Bay Avenue and found a Ford Edge and a Toyota Corolla had been in a crash, each vehicle occupied by only a driver, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The Toyota’s driver was hospitalized for moderate injuries. The Ford’s driver, identified by the Coroner’s Office as Logan Edwards, died at the scene, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The Toyota was speeding east on Bay and approaching Day, the Sheriff’s Department, and failed to stop for a stop sign and struck the Ford, causing it to collide with a residential fence, the Sheriff’s Department said.
