Suspect sought in Fontana hit-and-run

Police are looking for the driver who critically injured a pedestrian in Fontana over the weekend then took off.

The hit-and-run on Cherry and Santa Ana avenues was reported to the police at 8:55 p.m. on Saturday, May 1.

A vehicle, possibly a tractor-trailer, heading south on Cherry struck a man walking across the street, said Officer Kevin Anderson, a spokesman for the Fontana Police Department.

The 40-year-old pedestrian, who is homeless, was in critical condition at a hospital on Saturday, Anderson said. He didn’t know the man’s current condition.

Police asked that anyone with information about the hit-and-run can call police at 909-350-7740.
