Perris teen killed in hit-and-run crash in Mead Valley, suspect arrested

A 17-year-old who was riding a quad in the unincorporated Mead Valley area near Perris died last week after he was struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver, who later was arrested, officials said Monday, April 5.

The teen, Axel Perez of Perris, was riding the quad on Myron near Mead streets on Thursday when he was fatally struck by the vehicle at around nearly 8 p.m., according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office and California Highway Patrol. It was unclear if Perez was wearing a helmet.

The suspect, who drove a Toyota SUV, fled the scene but was arrested later, said Officer Juan Quintero, a CHP spokesman.

Froylan Francoarqueta, 55, of Perris, was arrested Friday evening on suspicion of murder and hit-and-run that resulted in death, inmate records show. He was being held without bail.
