A Chino man died after a collision in Rialto that resulted in his vehicle striking a wall and a tree, police said.
Tangi Holani, 30, was identified as the victim in the Friday morning, March 12, crash in the 3400 block of North Riverside Avenue.
At about 5:34 a.m. that day, police responded to several calls of a traffic collision on Riverside Avenue, south of Alder Avenue. Officers found Holani lying on the east shoulder of Riverside Avenue and paramedics from the Rialto Fire Department pronounced him dead at 5:50 a.m., police said.
Through roadway evidence and witness statements, investigators determined Holani was driving southbound on Riverside Avenue in a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser at a high speed attempting to pass a black Toyota Camry, police said. The Chrysler abruptly swerved to the right and jumped the west curb of Riverside Avenue.
Holani’s vehicle collided with a block wall and a tree, which caused him to be ejected from his vehicle and onto the northbound lanes of traffic, according to police. He was then struck by a silver Toyota Camry, whose driver stayed at the scene until officers arrived. There were no other injuries reported in the incident.
The Rialto Police Department requested that anyone who may have information related to the crash call 909-421-4981.
