SAN DIMAS — Authorities on Wednesday identified a 19-year-old Pomona man who was killed when his car crashed into the back of a big rig that was parked on the right shoulder of the southbound Orange (57) Freeway in San Dimas.
The crash occurred about 11:20 a.m. Tuesday south of Covina Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Cristian Alexander Herrera Lopez died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
According to the CHP, Lopez was driving a 1995 Honda Civic “on the right shoulder at a high rate of speed” when the car crashed into the trailer portion of a 2016 Freightliner big rig that was parked on the right shoulder. The trucker was not injured.
“Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this collision,” the CHP reported.
