A hit-and-run suspect who left two teenagers seriously injured in Hemet was being sought by police, officials said Monday.
On Christmas, officers from the Hemet Police Department responded to a collision on Sanderson Avenue near Menlo Avenue at 8:57 p.m. Two teenagers were found injured in the collision and the driver fled the scene, the Police Department said in a statement.
The victims were riding on a “mini-bike” at the time of the collision, according to Sgt. Dan Reinbolt, spokesman for the Police Department.
Hemet police traffic investigators have been searching for the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in locating video or evidence that may lead to the vehicle and/or driver, police said.
The vehicle is described as an unknown year gray pickup truck, possibly a Toyota Tundra or similar, Hemet police said. The vehicle should have collision damage to the front end, specifically the right front corner, and/or the right side of the vehicle.
Anyone who was in the area of the incident or have any information that may lead investigators to identify the suspect was urged to contact the Hemet Police Department’s Traffic Division at 951-765-3725.
