Corona man arrested after suspected DUI crash in Santa Ana leaves a woman dead

SANTA ANA — A woman died Saturday morning in a crash believed caused by a DUI driver.

The crash occurred at 5:13 a.m. at the intersection of Third and Main streets, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

A Chevy was southbound on Main Street when it collided into a Kia that was eastbound on Third, police said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surviving occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospitals for treatment, police said.

Chevy driver James Martin Diaz of Corona was arrested at the hospital for suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He remained in custody at a hospital.

It was not clear in which vehicle the deceased woman was an occupant.
