CHP seeks suspect in hit-and-run crash northeast of Lake Elsinore

A man was being sought after a hit-and-run that left a 24-year-old Lake Elsinore motorcyclist with major injuries on Highway 74 between Lake Elsinore and Perris on Wednesday evening, the California Highway Patrol reported.

At about 6:15 p.m., the victim was traveling on a Suzuki dirt bike west on the 74 east of Hammack Avenue with no lighting equipment, the CHP said. A gray four-door 2006 Ford F-250 was heading east on the 74 when it turned north on Hammack Avenue in the path of the dirt bike and the truck’s front end collided into the bike’s right side.

The victim was ejected from the bike and came to rest in the intersection. The truck driver parked the vehicle in the roadway on Hammack Avenue and fled the scene on foot north to an unknown location, a witness told the CHP.

CHP and the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department responded to the collision, northeast of Lake Elsinore, and transported the victim to Inland Valley Medical Center.
