Authorities on Monday, Jan. 18, publicly identified a 22-year-old man killed in an off-road-vehicle accident just west of Lake Mathews.
Vicente Brambila of Los Angeles died at the crash site on Tine Mine Road, near La Sierra Avenue, shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17.
Brambila and a friend were riding in a Honda Razor all-terrain vehicle, which resembles a dune buggy, when it slammed into a boulder, the California Highway Patrol said.
Brambila’s friend suffered minor injuries and was able to climb out of the ATV and call 911, the CHP said.
It was unclear if either victim was using a safety harness.
