A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of running over and killing a bicyclist in Perris and then attempting to flee the scene.
Nathan Craig Rogers of Perris was arrested and booked Thursday night, Jan. 14, into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run resulting in death.
About 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the victim was going through the intersection of Goetz and Mapes roads when his bike was impacted by a car, according to Riverside County sheriff’s officials.
Witnesses called 911, and the motorist allegedly tried to drive away, but his vehicle stalled, authorities said.
Paramedics pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. Rogers was arrested without incident near the intersection.
