Man dies in multi-car collision on Highway 138 in the Phelan area

A 30-year-old man was killed in a multi-car collision along Highway 138 in the Phelan area, the California Highway Patrol reported.

On Saturday, Jan. 9,  the victim was a passenger travelling eastbound on the 138, east of Wimmer Road, in a 2003 Honda at a high rate of speed, CHP said. The Honda lost control and collided with a 2010 Lexus in the eastbound lanes and crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the front end of a 2016 Ford.

The Honda continued to travel in the westbound lanes and struck a 2012 Jeep, CHP said. The Honda’s passenger was ejected as a result of the crash and was transported to  Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The passenger’s identity was not made available.

The driver of the Honda had major injuries and was also taken to  Arrowhead Regional. The driver of the Ford, from Upland, had minor injuries and was transported to Desert Valley Hospital, CHP said.
