19-year-old from Menifee killed in single-vehicle crash in Jurupa Valley area

A 19-year-old driver died Thursday after crashing into a tree in the Jurupa Valley area, authorities said.

Deputies around 9:40 p.m. responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a single vehicle at the San Sevaine Way and Wabash Drive intersection in Jurupa Valley, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department statement.

They found a compact vehicle that had collided with a tree, killing the male driver. There was no one else in the car, deputies said, and no other vehicles believed involved in the crash.

The driver was identified as Ricardo Aguilar Jr. of Menifee, according to the coroner’s office, which placed the crash location as San Sevaine Way, a half mile west of Mission Boulevard in the city of Riverside.

It isn’t clear why the driver apparently lost control. Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash, and it wasn’t immediately clear if alcohol or drugs played a factor, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
