LAKE MATHEWS — An 83-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man from Perris died Wednesday morning when their vehicle plunged 30 feet off a roadway near Lake Mathews.
The crash was reported about 8:20 a.m. in the area of Cajalco and Gavilan roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.
First responders found Anita Martinez and Paul Martinez Jr. trapped in the vehicle that had plummeted down an embankment, the coroner’s office and the CHP reported.
The victims, whose relationship was not released, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
