Motorcycle rider dies in collision in Winchester

A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday, Nov. 11, in a head-on collision in Winchester that prompted the temporary closure of two major roads.

The crash was reported at 1:20 p.m. on Winchester Road south of Stetson Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said.

A witness told the CHP that the motorcyclist struck the back of a car and swerved into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a big rig, the CHP log said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Winchester Road, also known as Highway 79, was closed at Stetson and at Highway 74.
