SAN DIMAS — Authorities Monday identified a man and woman who died when their car was rear-ended by a speeding motorist on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in San Dimas.
The coroner’s office identified the woman as Ana Miramontes, 41, of Upland, while the California Highway Patrol identified the man as Daniel Miramontes of Rialto.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
The crash was reported at 2:08 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound 10 just west of Via Verde, after a speeding motorist rear-ended a 2018 Nissan, the CHP said.
The occupants of the vehicle that struck the Nissan were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. An 18-year-old man suffered major injuries and a 16-year-old boy had moderate injuries, according to CHP Officer Xavier Becerra. Both were Richmond residents. Becerra did not indicate whether either of them were driving the vehicle.
Witnesses told the CHP a black Honda Odyssey minivan had collided with a white sedan.
The CHP’s Baldwin Park area office urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 626-338-1164.
