JURUPA VALLEY — Two woman were killed and two other people were seriously injured in a fiery two-vehicle crash in Jurupa Valley, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
It happened at about 6:10 p.m. Friday at Mission Boulevard and Pedley Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Of the three women in one of the vehicles, one was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two were taken to a hospital, Sgt. Luke Torres said.
One of those women later died of her injuries at Riverside Community Hospital, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.
Authorities did not immediately name either of the deceased women, pending notification of their families.
The third woman, who was the driver, was expected to survive despite suffering major injuries, Torres said.
The driver of the other vehicle, a man, was also taken to a hospital with major injuries but was expected to survive, he said.
Authorities were investigating the crash and had not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a factor.
