A woman was killed during a hit-and-run collision in Highland late Monday evening, Sept. 7, authorities said.

The woman, identified by authorities as a 33-year-old resident of Rialto, was walking in the area of Baseline Street and Rogers Lane about 11:30 p.m. when a vehicle struck the woman and then drove away, east on Baseline, a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Sheriff’s deputies found the woman at the intersection. Paramedics transported her to St. Bernadine’s Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.

Authorities continued their search Tuesday for the driver of the vehicle who is suspected of the fatal hit-and-run.

The suspect’s vehicle was described to investigators as a yellow hatchback or small SUV, the Sheriff’s Department said.
