2 who died in Perris traffic collision are identified

The two people who died in a traffic collision in Perris on Monday were identified Tuesday, July 14, as Perris residents.

Maria Navarro, 69, and Rafael Navarro Duarte, 68, perished in the crash at Harley Knox Boulevard and Patterson Avenue, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office said.

The collision, between a Chevy Blazer and the victims’ Ford F-150 pickup, was reported at 11:44 a.m. Monday. The driver of the Blazer fled but was found nearby, and was expected to be arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the Sheriff’s Department said.

No information was available Tuesday on the status of the Blazer driver.
