A Temecula man was killed in a late-Saturday night motorcycle crash after the speeding bike struck a tree along a stretch of Solana Way in the city, Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies said.
Johnathon Kautz, 40, was treated by deputies and paramedics before he was pronounced dead at the scene, about a quarter mile east of Calle Aranda, the coroner’s office said.
The early investigation showed Kautz was traveling eastbound, fast, on Solana Way when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a tree around 11:18 p.m. He was found unresponsive on the south curb of the roadway, deputies said.
Solana Way was closed between Calle Aranda and Del Rey Road for several hours for the investigation of the crash.
