A 28-year-old Lake Elsinore resident died in a traffic collision in that city on Saturday, July 11, authorities said.

Julie Cruz Arellano perished in the 6:45 a.m. crash at Highway 74 at Riverside Street, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office said. Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department firefighters cut her out of the wreckage. Arellano was pronounced dead at 7:23 a.m.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash and said in a Monday statement that the woman who died, identified by the coroner as Arellano, was driving a 2005 Honda Accord northbound on Riverside and turning left to Highway 74 when her car was hit on the driver’s side by a vehicle driven by an Arkansas man.

The Arkansas man, 62, was not hurt.

“The cause of this collision is still under investigation, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the collision,” the statement said.
