Man dies in two-vehicle crash in Eastvale

A man driving a vehicle died after colliding with another vehicle in Eastvale on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The man had been driving east on Baron Road and tried turning left on River Road, despite signs telling drivers they could only turn right onto the road, said the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in a statement. While the man tried making the left turn, a second vehicle traveling south on River Road struck the man’s vehicle.

Deputies got word of the crash about 8:30 a.m. Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital, but he died along the way, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the deceased driver.

The driver of the other vehicle cooperated with traffic investigators and was treated at the scene with minor injuries.

River Road was closed in both directions while deputies processed the scene. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision, authorities said.
