Five shooting suspects were arrested Monday night after the car they were in crashed in San Dimas while being pursued by authorities.
The chase started in Azusa about 8 p.m. after authorities received a report of a drive-by shooting in the 600 block of East Lee Place, said Azusa police Sgt. Nick Covarrubias in a news release. No one was injured in the shooting.
Police spotted a white vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. Officers tried to get the vehicle to stop, but the driver sped away, leading Azusa police and the California Highway Patrol officers on a chase on the 210 and 605 Freeways from Azusa to Irwwindale, then back to Azusa, passing though Baldwin Park, Covarrubias said.
The chase continued at high speeds and the driver did not stop at stop signs or red lights, went through a red light on Arrow Highway, near West Cienega Avenue, and crashed into a turning vehicle about 8:30 p.m. in San Dimas.
At least two suspects ran from the crashed car, and a total of five suspects, four men and a woman, were taken into custody, Covarrubias said. None of the suspects sustained serious injuries from the crash.
Police did not immediately identify those arrested or say what charges they may face.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics took one patient in the vehicle that was struck during the chase to a hospital, Covarrubias said. The patient was a child, Fox 11 reported.
