Hit-and-run crash in Jurupa Valley leaves pedestrian dead

A car struck and killed a pedestrian in Jurupa Valley on Saturday, May 23, and sped away from the scene of the crash, authorities said.

The collision happened at about 8:26 p.m. on the 1300 block of Rubidoux Boulevad, Riverside County Sheriff’s officials said in a news release. A witness told deputies that a dark colored sedan traveling in a southbound  lane hit a man at a high rate of speed. The driver did not pull over to check on the injured pedestrian, officials said.

Responding units found the victim suffering from major injuries in a dirt shoulder on the west side of Rubidoux, Sheriff’s officials said. He died before he could be taken to a hospital. The victim was later identified as Robert Ibrahim, 41, Temecula.

The car involved in the crash likely sustained damage to its side-view mirror and front passenger side, Sheriff’s officials said. Authorities have asked anyone who might be able to help investigators identify the person who was driving it Saturday evening to call RCSD Deputy Nancarrow by calling 951-955-2600.
