Off-road motorcycle crash leaves rider dead south of Anza

ANZA — A person died Saturday in an off-road motorcycle crash in a hard-to-reach spot south of Anza near the Riverside-San Diego County line.

The crash was reported just before 1 p.m. on the Cooper Cienega Truck Trail, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter hoisted the downed dirt biker to a safer location, where the person was pronounced dead by paramedics, fire officials said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

The San Diego County Coroner was requested because the person died across the county line in San Diego County, fire officials said.
