A delivery driver was robbed, shot and hit on the head with a baseball bat in Redlands on Thursday, May 14, resulting in the arrest of an Arizona woman, the Redlands Police Department said.
A second attacker, a man, was at large Saturday.
The assault happened just after 1:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Stillman Avenue, where the victim had come to make a delivery. As she pulled up to the curb, Patricia Alicia Hildago, 30, of Scottsdale, confronted the victim, police said. Hildago entered the passenger’s side of the vehicle and shot the victim in the leg, police said.
Then, a man wearing a black ski mask and black hooded sweatshirt, opened the driver’s side door, pulled the victim out of the vehicle and repeatedly struck her with the baseball bat, police said.
Hildago tried to drive away in the victim’s vehicle but then fled on foot. She pointed the gun at a bystander’s head before running away, police said. Officers soon found Hildago coming out of a ditch at the Orange Blossom Trail and arrested her. She was armed with a loaded semi-automatic handgun, police said.
They said the delivery vehicle was “private.”
“The suspects ordered up some merchandise and then robbed her upon delivery,” Assistant Chief Travis Martinez said Saturday. “We’re not disclosing what the merchandise was due to the ongoing investigation.”
The male suspect was last seen in an older-model white or silver Honda sedan.
The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said Friday.
Hidalgo was booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino on suspicion of attempted murder, carjacking, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon and robbery, Martinez said. She was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
