1 killed, 1 injured in 15 Freeway crash south of Corona

CORONA — A 23-year-old man died Saturday in a solo-vehicle rollover crash in the unincorporated Glen Ivy area of Riverside County near Corona.

Damian Gomez Perez of Corona was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.

The crash was reported at 4:30 a.m. near Mayhew and Temescal Canyon roads, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The survivor, who was rushed to an area hospital, suffered a laceration to the head and a broken right arm, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses told the CHP the vehicle went off the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 near the Indian Truck Trail exit, overturned and landed near Mayhew and Temescal Canyon roads.

Corona firefighters helped Riverside County crews extricate the survivor from the wreckage, fire officials said.
