The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened at around 3 p.m., just north of Dillon Road. A woman was driving a 1999 Honda Civic south on the highway.
She lost control of the vehicle, drove onto the left shoulder of the freeway and crashed into a tree, the CHP said. The car caught fire due to the crash.
“After the collision, the driver of the vehicle was extricated from the vehicle by a good Samaritan,” officials said.
The woman was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.
She was identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office as 32-year-old Adelina Bianca Enriquez.
The CHP said the crash is under investigation and drugs and/or alcohol have not been ruled out as contributing factors in the crash.
