A driver was killed late Sunday on the 10 Freeway in Pomona when he left his damaged car and was struck by another motorist who then fled.

The coroner’s office has not yet identified the victim.

On Monday, the California Highway Patrol asked the public for help in finding the hit-and-run driver.

The fatal collision occurred on the westbound 10 Freeway, east of Kellogg Drive, at 11:19 p.m. A Honda Accord had become disabled in the No. 4 lane after a crash, CHP Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said.

“At some point, he (the driver) stepped out of the vehicle and began walking in the next lane,” Jimenez said

A white sport-utility vehicle hit the man, Jimenez said. Additional crashes occurred as other vehicles tried to avoid the stalled Accord.

The CHP asked that anyone with information about the incident call Officer Joel Pena at 626-338-1164.
