A man suspected of speeding before a crash that killed a passenger in his vehicle in Yucaipa was charged last week by the San Bernardino County County District Attorney’s Office with one count of murder and one count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The crash happened on Jan. 8, at around 10:10 p.m. near Calimesa Boulevard and Oak Glenn Road, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
When deputies got to the scene, they found a woman pinned under the front passenger side of a 2004 Ford Explorer, the Sheriff’s Department said. She was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as 22-year-old Nina Stuart.
The Sheriff’s Department said the driver, 25-year-old Andrew Patrick Grover, was driving west on Calimesa at a very high rate of speed and couldn’t properly make a turn. Instead, the vehicle left the roadway, rolled several times and partially ejected Stuart during the crash.
Charges were filed by the District Attorney’s Office on Monday, March 16, according to court records.
Grover, a resident of Vista in San Diego County, was arrested on Friday and booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga with a bail of $1,075,000, according to jail records.
