A person died Monday after a crash in which a motorcyclist tried to split the lane between two trucks in Rancho Cucamonga, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened at around 5:15 a.m. on the 210 Freeway just east of Archibald Avenue. The CHP said the motorcyclist was driving a Yamaha YZF-R6 at an estimated 90 miles per hour and splitting lanes.
Authorities said the motorcyclist attempted to drive between a Chevrolet Silverado and a Toyota Tacoma.
“As the motorcyclist was splitting lanes between the HOV and number one lane, he collided with both the Silverado and Tacoma as he attempted to drive past them,” the CHP said.
Officials said the motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle during the crash. Medical personnel gave him life-saving measures and he was transported to the San Antonio Regional Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The motorcyclist’s identity was not immediately available pending notification of his family.
