MORENO VALLEY — A Victorville man was killed when he crashed his speeding motorcycle into a BMW on the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, authorities said Saturday.
The crash was reported at 6:35 p.m. Friday on the westbound Moreno Valley Freeway east of Indian Street, said California Highway Patrol Officer N. Le Beau.
Robert Vidal Zamora Jr., 24, was driving his 2019 Suzuki GSX-R600 westbound at a speed estimated at more than 85 mph between the number 1 and number 2 lanes, Le Beau said. A 40-year-old Moreno Valley woman was driving a 2007 BMW 328i westbound in the number 2 lane in front of the motorcycle at about 60 mph.
“For undetermined reasons, the motorcyclist made an unsafe turning movement to the right which caused the motorcycle to collide into the left side of the BMW,” the officer said. “The motorcyclist was then ejected from the motorcycle and thrown onto the roadway.”
The BMW driver and two good Samaritans pulled to the right shoulder and tried to help the motorcyclist, but Zamora was pronounced dead at the scene, Le Beau said.
The investigation was ongoing.
